The High Anti-Corruption Court granted the prosecutor's office's motion to confiscate a 2023 Mercedes-Benz G 400 D from Andriy Moraru, an official of the Migration Service in Odesa Oblast.
According to the court decision, the car will be confiscated in favor of the state.
The fact is that in June, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office found out that the mother of an official of the State Migration Service in Odesa Oblast had acquired a car worth UAH 5 million 647,900, which the migrant worker constantly used. The income turned out to be unjustified, so in the end, the court sided with the prosecutors.
In June 2024, the SBI exposed migration service officials who wanted to make money on a foreigner. Andrii Moraru was among the detainees.
After that, the HACC began consideration of the case on confiscation of the Mercedes-Benz car. The car, worth more than UAH 5 million, belongs to the mother of Andrii Moraru , an official at Odesa Customs who does not even have a driver's license.
In addition, the NACP found that Andrii Moraru failed to declare a 2021 Audi RS Q8 purchased in April 2023 for UAH 500,000 through Unicars, a company associated with scandalous businessman Borys Kaufman. In addition, the declaration does not indicate the 200.5 sq. m. house in Odesa that the official used during the year and the land plot on which it is located.
The official also failed to report his wife's apartment, purchased in 2022 for UAH 1.84 million, as well as his children, who did not officially live with him. Moraru also submitted false information about his salary. In the declaration, he indicated an annual income of UAH 345,116, although according to the state register, his actual salary was UAH 428,715.
In total, the official failed to declare property, assets and income worth more than UAH 83 million. The NACP forwarded the materials to law enforcement agencies under Article 366-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding false information.
