Innovations in 2026: alimony, court fees and free legal aid

As of January 1, 2026, basic social standards have changed in Ukraine. The minimum wage in the country has increased to UAH 8647. Compared to 2025, the monthly salary has been increased by UAH 647 and by UAH 4 (up to UAH 52) at the hourly level (in 2025, this figure was UAH 48).
The subsistence minimum has also increased. Starting in 2026, it will amount to UAH 3,328 for able-bodied citizens and UAH 2,595 for those unable to work.
According to the lawyers of the free legal aid (FLA) system, in connection with the increase in the subsistence minimum in 2026, in addition to changes in the rates paid during the first state registration of cars, the following will increase: the amount of alimony, court fees and the average monthly income limit, which determines the right to free secondary legal aid, etc.
Alimony
Lawyers noted that the minimum amount of alimony in 2026 will be
- for children under 6 years of age - UAH 1,408.50 per month
- for children aged 6 to 18 years - UAH 1,756 per month.
Court fees
Along with the change in the subsistence minimum, new court fee rates will be introduced. Thus, in 2026, a person will have to pay the following fees for an application or complaint
- for divorce - UAH 1,331.20
- for an application for a court order - UAH 332.80
- for an application to cancel a court order - UAH 166.40;
- for establishing legal facts, reviewing a decision in absentia, etc. - UAH 665.60;
- for the division of property upon divorce - 1% of the amount of the claim, but not less than UAH 1,331.20 and not more than UAH 9,984.
The right to free secondary legal aid
Everyone can get free legal advice from a lawyer in the system of free legal aid. Certain categories of people are also entitled to free legal aid, which includes support in court.
The report states that IDPs, war veterans, family members of fallen defenders, children, people with low incomes (able-bodied people with an income of up to 6656 UAH/month; for those who are unable to work - 5190 UAH/month and other categories are listed in Article 14 of the Law of Ukraine "On Free Legal Aid") are entitled to free legal aid in Ukraine.
