In order to receive a pension in Ukraine in 2025, you must reach the established age, have the required insurance record, and submit an application to the Pension Fund. We will tell you how and where to do it.
How to retire and apply for benefits
In 2025, Ukrainians can retire at the age of 60, 63, or 65, depending on the length of their insurance record. The Pension Fund of Ukraine informs:
- To retire at age 60, you must have at least 32 years of service
- To retire at 63, 22 years of service
- To retire at the age of 65, 15 years of service
A pensioner can apply to the Pension Fund and receive a certificate that will indicate his or her insurance period and earnings taken into account in the calculation of the pension. To do this, you need to submit an application. He or she also has the right to review his or her pension file during a personal appointment at the Pension Fund office.
The application can be submitted on the Diia website or at the Pension Fund of Ukraine. The service will take approximately 30 days to complete. To submit an application, an individual must take the following documents as:
- Application for information on pension case
- A document confirming the authority of the representative
- Document confirming the registration number of the taxpayer's account card
- Passport of a citizen of Ukraine or temporary certificate of a citizen of Ukraine
How to replace a pension certificate
If the pension certificate is damaged, lost, the pensioner is granted a different type of pension, or other important circumstances have changed, a new certificate is issued upon application.
You can get a new one at the Pension Fund of Ukraine, and the procedure will take about a month. You need to have the documents with you:
- Application
- An identity document or a document confirming the person's authority as a representative
- Registration number of the taxpayer's account card or series and passport number
- Photo
- Signature sample for the electronic version of the document
The certificate is also destroyed in case of errors in the documents, pension cancellation or death of the holder. The electronic pension certificate works like a payment card, the terms of service and commission are set by the bank, the card is valid for no more than three years and is used until its expiration, even if the pension has already ended.
How to resume pension payments
You can submit an application in person at the territorial office of the Pension Fund of Ukraine. Any eligible individual can apply.
To submit an application, you must have the following documents:
- Application for resumption of pension payment
- Certificate of full-time education (for children receiving a survivor 's pension under the age of 23)
- Documents on circumstances affecting the amount of the pension (e.g., change in the number of dependent family members, disability, care allowance, etc.) - to be submitted additionally
- Documents on insurance period, if certain periods are not yet taken into account in the pension file - are submitted additionally
- For citizens of Ukraine from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol - a certificate from the Russian Federation authorities stating that a pension has not been granted and a declaration of non-citizenship of the occupying state
- Identification code (or a note in the passport about the refusal for religious reasons)
- Passport of a citizen of Ukraine or a temporary certificate (for foreigners - documents confirming legal stay in Ukraine, for children - birth certificate)
In today's realities, new technologies such as a mobile application make it much easier to prepare the necessary documents. Pensioners can submit applications, check their data, and obtain the necessary certificates right from their smartphones, saving time and effort. This makes the process of receiving and renewing a pension simple and accessible to everyone.
