It happens that people change their phone numbers, but in the age of modern technology, bank cards, social media accounts, etc. are linked to phone numbers. Also, a mobile phone number is required when signing a declaration with a family doctor or pediatrician, because the authorization code in the electronic healthcare system is sent to the mobile phone number, and thus the patient is confirmed in the system.

In addition, a mobile phone is needed when a patient receives an electronic prescription for "Available Medicines" - the prescription number and confirmation code are sent via SMS.

But there may be a situation when the specified phone number is no longer available. The National Health Service of Ukraine has provided clarification on what to do in such cases.

You can contact the NHSU through an online form, where you need to select "Online form for changing the authentication method". The NHSU receives the request and resets the settings. The patient can update the phone number. During the next visit to their doctor, the patient needs to update the phone number.

The reset process may take several days, but the patient can check the status of their application on the NHSU website.

How to do it: after filling out the online form, write down the number of your request. The next day, go to the website, click on the "Citizens" tab, and then "Check the status of the request" and enter the number you wrote down.

You will see one of four options:

  • "Request completed" means that everything was successful. During your next visit to your doctor, you need to update the phone number.
  • "Request is being processed" - your request is still in progress, visit the site later and check the status.
  • "Request rejected" - your person has not been identified, call the contact center at 16-77, tell the operator the request number and your name.
  • "Please enter the id number correctly" - an error while entering the number, try again.

If you do not remember exactly what number is indicated in your declaration, look at your copy. This is a legal document that must be kept by you and your healthcare facility.

As a reminder, starting from July 1, 2023, medicines under theAffordable Medicines program will be sold only by electronic prescription, with exceptions only in the temporarily occupied, frontline, and active military operations areas.

This was reported by the State Service on Medicines and Drugs Control.

They emphasized that the rule on the dispensing of drugs under the "affordable medicines" program exclusively by electronic prescription has been in effect in Ukraine since 2019, when the program was transferred to the administration of the National Health Service.

However, at the beginning of the full-scale war, to ensure unimpeded access to essential medicines, the government allowed prescribing and dispensing "affordable medicines" also by paper prescription.

However, starting July 1, the rule that "affordable medicines" will be dispensed only by electronic prescription will be returned.

At the same time, throughout Ukraine, at the patient's request, the doctor will be able to additionally print an information certificate containing information about the prescription.

"Affordable Medicines" is a government program that provides full or partial payment of the cost of certain medicines from the budget.

Since the beginning of 2023, more than 1.5 million Ukrainians have already received "affordable medicines" by electronic prescription, including patients who need outpatient treatment for cardiovascular diseases, type 1 or type 2 diabetes, diabetes insipidus, bronchial asthma, mental and behavioral disorders, and epilepsy.

During the period of full-scale war, from March 2022 to June 2023, 14 million electronic prescriptions were redeemed under the "affordable medicines" program.

In the last 30 days alone, more than 50 thousand patients have received an electronic prescription under the Affordable Medicines program for the first time.

The state reimbursement program covers more than 400 medicinal products. The current list of medicinal products sold under the program is available on the website of the National Health Service of Ukraine in the section "Reimbursement Program for Medicinal Products".
