IzbirKom has prepared an online calendar of the main events of the parliamentary election campaign, marking the most important dates on a timeline.
May
May 21. A decree is issued dissolving the Verkhovna Rada and calling elections.
In particular, the Decree states:
- To terminate early the powers of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the eighth convocation.
- Call early elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for July 21, 2019.
- The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to ensure funding for early elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
May 23. The decree is promulgated and enters into force.
May 24. Start of the election process, nomination of candidates and change of voting location:
- candidates pay a cash deposit after the start of the election process and submission of documents to the CEC;
- candidates have the right to start campaigning the day after their registration with the CEC.
On May 24, 2019, the Central Election Commission published the Resolution "On the Calendar Plan of Main Organizational Measures for the Preparation and Conduct of the Early Parliamentary Elections of Ukraine on July 21, 2019". According to the Resolution, the Calendar Plan of Main Organizational Measures for the Preparation and Conduct of Early Elections of People's Deputies of Ukraine on July 21, 2019 was approved.
By May 31. Formation of district election commissions.
In particular, eleven election commissions were formed in Odesa region in 133, 134, 135, 136, 137, 138, 139, 140, 141, 142, 143 electoral districts.
June
June 10. Deadline for parties to nominate candidates. By law, 40 days before the election.
June 20. Last day to submit documents to the CEC for candidate registration.
June 25. The last day for the CEC to register candidates. By law, 30 days before the election.
July
July 05. Precinct election commissions are formed.
July 10. The final list of candidates is announced (excluding those who withdrew from the election).
July 15. Last day to change the place of voting.
July 19. Election campaigning ends at 24 hours.
July 21. Election day.
August
August 05. The CEC has a deadline to establish the election results.
August 10. The deadline for publishing the results.
By September 9, the Verkhovna Rada must convene for its first session, before which MPs will be sworn in.
