(IMAGES: Intent)

The year 2026 brings a lot of new things for all Ukrainians. The minimum wage and subsistence minimums are being increased. Also in 2026, new social standards will be introduced in Ukraine in accordance with the law.

In connection with the change in the subsistence minimum, the amount of childbirth assistance in Ukraine will also change in 2026. As a reminder, the subsistence minimum for able-bodied persons is set at UAH 3,328, the general subsistence minimum is UAH 3,209, and the subsistence minimum for persons who have lost their ability to work is UAH 2,595.

According to lawyers of the free legal aid (FLA) system, new types of state aid to families with children have been introduced and the existing child benefits continue to be in effect. They can be applied for by one of the child's parents or a guardian with whom the child permanently resides.

The amount of childbirth assistance: what has changed

On November 5, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the second reading the draft law No. 13532 "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Supporting Families with Children and Creating Conditions Conducive to Combining Parenthood with Professional Activity", which provides for an increase in the one-time payment to women after the birth of a child to 50,000 hryvnias.

According to the FLA lawyers, first of all, the one-time childbirth allowance has changed:

  • Previously: UAH 10,320 one-time, then UAH 860 for 36 months
  • Now: UAH 50,000 as a one-time payment.

The amount provided for the "Baby Package" has also changed

  • previously: UAH 7,689
  • now: UAH 8,451.

It is still possible to receive a "baby package" in kind (clothes, food, etc.) or monetary compensation.

New types of state aid to families with children

Lawyers of the free legal aid system also reported that some types of state aid to families with children have changed

The report says that in 2026 the following new types of assistance were introduced

  • in connection with pregnancy and childbirth (for the unemployed) - 7000 UAH/month
  • for childcare until the child reaches the age of 1 - 7000 UAH/month, and for a child with a disability - 10500 UAH/month
  • for the care of a child from 1 to 3 years of age (if the mother or other legal representative goes to work after the child turns one) - 8,000 UAH/month, and for a child with a disability - 12,000 UAH/month.

The "schoolchildren's package" will be provided in 2026

The FLA lawyers reported that in 2026, the assistance to first-grade students - UAH 5000 per child for the purchase of necessary school supplies (stationery), books, children's clothing and footwear, which was introduced in 2025, will be provided in 2026.

Also in 2026, in addition to changes in the rates paid during the first state registration of passenger cars, Ukraine will increase the following: alimony, court fees and the average monthly income threshold that determines the right to free secondary legal aid
