On August 20, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the procedure for providing financial assistance to Ukrainians under the National Cashback program. According to the procedure, citizens will receive a 10% refund of the cost of Ukrainian goods purchased by them.

On September 2, 2024, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine announced that beta testing of the National Cashback program had started. It will last about a month. During this period, the system will be filled with goods from Ukrainian producers. New retail chains and stores will join the program. The operation of the technical systems that support the project will be checked.

As of September 2, the following banks participated in the project: PrivatBank, Sense Bank, FUIB, A-Bank, Globus, Ukrsibbank, and Accordbank.

How to join the National Cashback program

To receive cashback from the state, you need to apply through the website or mobile application of a bank participating in the program, or contact a branch. Open a physical or virtual card to which cashback will be credited.

When applying to the bank, you will also need to identify the cards that will be used to make payments for goods and agree to the transfer of transaction data when purchasing goods from the selected cards. These can be cards from different banks. Next, update the Diia mobile application, select the National Cashback service, and select the card for cashback payments.

What retail chains does National Cashback work in?

Yulia Svyrydenko, Minister of Economy of Ukraine, said that ATB-Market, Aurora, NOVUS, ECO Market, VARUS, OKKO, WOG filling stations, Ukrnafta, and Apteka ANC pharmacy chain have joined the program. According to her, about 100 more retail outlets - from small shops and pharmacies to online stores and large supermarkets - are in the process of joining.

According to the official, as of September 9, 880 thousand Ukrainians have opened cards to receive payments under the National Cashback program. More than 130 thousand products from 713 Ukrainian manufacturers are registered in the system.

Is National Cashback safe for consumers?

By joining the program, a person provides the state with access to information about payments made with their card. The government does not believe that this violates banking secrecy, Ekonomichna Pravda reports.

Deputy Minister of Economy Nadiya Bihun assured in a podcast on Chronicle of Economics that participation in the program is completely safe. By joining the program, the user agrees to transfer information about transactions only for the purpose of calculating cashback. "Diia does not store or transfer this information.
