President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted a letter of resignation from Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The Parliament plans to consider the relevant document at its next session.

On October 22, Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin announced that he was resigning from the post of Prosecutor General of Ukraine due to the facts of abuse in the system of prosecution bodies of Ukraine. He wrote the statement during a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council regarding the immoral situation with fake disabilities of government officials.

In July 2022, the Parliament supported the appointment of Andriy Kostin to the post of Prosecutor General, with 299 MPs voting in favor. Andrii Kostin is a native of Odesa and a graduate of Mechnikov Odesa National University with a degree in Law. He is the Deputy Chairman of the Bar Council of Odesa Region and Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Odesa Regional Bar Association.

In April, some media outlets cited their sources as saying that the president was planning to transfer Andriy Kostin as ambassador to the Netherlands and appoint Oleh Kiper, the head of Odesa regional administration, to take his place.

Meanwhile, the head of the Odesa Regional Center for Medical and Social Expertise also resigned, and the regional council has already prepared a corresponding order. The change of the head was initiated by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper.

It should be noted that in Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odesa regions, six dozen prosecutors have the status of a person with a disability. In Odesa region, 47 prosecutors have the status of a person with a disability. This is 9.5% of the total number of prosecutors working there. Meanwhile, in Mykolaiv region, only 12 prosecutors, or 4.5% of the total number, have this status.

In Kherson region, only 1 prosecutor has received the status of a person with a disability. This is 0.6% of the total number of working prosecutors.
