Border guards of Odesa region detained a woman at the Orlivka checkpoint who tried to bribe a servicewoman so that her husband could travel abroad without hindrance.

This was reported by the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

During the document check, the citizen presented an extract from the decision of the expert commission for assessing the daily functioning of a person, according to which he has the third group of disability. However, this document is not a basis for crossing the state border of Ukraine. Since the man did not provide a certificate of a person with a disability, he was denied permission to leave the country.

To resolve the issue, his wife offered the border guard 700 euros. The servicewoman refused the bribe and recorded the attempted bribery. The border guards reported the bribery attempt to the police.

In July 2025, the Khadzhybeyskyi District Court of Odesa found a 79-year-old native of Moscow guilty of attempting to bribe a police investigator. the man called the investigator and offered a bribe to close the criminal proceedings and not bring him to justice.

And in June, law enforcement officers detained a border guard inspector in Odesa region on suspicion of providing an illegal benefit to an official. The suspect, being an active serviceman of a military unit, decided to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine bypassing checkpoints.

In order to realize his criminal intent, he tried to bribe the head of a group of one of the departments of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The suspect offered the official a cash reward in the amount of USD 2 thousand to USD 3 thousand for assistance in transferring him to the Republic of Moldova. In particular, it was about providing official information on the placement of border patrols, photo traps and advice on a safe route outside the established checkpoints.
