In Mykolaiv region, law enforcement officers exposed a scheme to misappropriate budget funds during the repair of the water supply system.

This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Under the procedural guidance of the Pervomaiskyi District Prosecutor's Office, the director of two enterprises, who is a resident of another region, was served a notice of suspicion. He is charged with misappropriation of property by abuse of office under martial law, as well as forgery in office.

According to the investigation, in 2024, the suspect executed contracts with one of the communities of Pervomaiskyi district for the overhaul of water supply systems. While performing the work, he entered false information into official documents.

In particular, he included expenses that were not actually incurred in the acts of completion and financial statements. Based on these documents, the companies were unjustifiably transferred budget funds, some of which the director misappropriated.

The total amount of losses is over UAH 150 thousand.

The issue of choosing a type of detention is currently being decided. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by Mykolaiv police investigators.

If proven guilty, the man faces up to 8 years in prison with disqualification to hold certain positions.

Earlier, Intent wrote that in Pervomaisk, a judge refused to return an indictment in a case of official negligence related to the use of budget funds in the fight against COVID-19. Instead, the case was scheduled for consideration, despite the defense's objections.

Also in Mykolaiv, a judge was removed from the case of the former head of the MSEC at the request of the prosecutor's office. The reason was doubts about the observance of procedural norms during the hearings.

In March, Vira Belyakova, the former acting chief physician of the regional center of the Medical Expert Commission, pleaded guilty. During the hearing, the court considered the possibility of approving the agreement between the accused and the prosecutor's office.
