On July 15, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's bills and extended martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine.

The decision will come into force on August 7 and will last 90 days, until November 5.

The last time mobilization was extended was on April 16. Draft laws on the extension of martial law and mobilization are regularly adopted before the expiration of the previous ones.

There is an option to lift martial law throughout the country or in certain parts of it before its expiration. To do so, the president must issue a decree. The condition is that there is no threat to state security and territorial integrity.

Martial law was introduced in Ukraine because of Russia's full-scale armed aggression.

It is a special legal regime that provides state authorities, military commanders, military administrations, and local governments with the powers necessary to avert the threat.

On November 15, 2024, the government updated the reservation criteria and criteria for obtaining criticality. The government conducted an audit of enterprises and organizations that have criticality status and the right to book employees. The audit identified a number of issues that need to be addressed.

Mobilization applies to men aged 25 to 60. At the same time, there are periodic proposals for possible changes to the mobilization rules, such as the drafting of younger men and the general mobilization of women.

At the same time, the government adopted a new decree introducing a transparent mechanism for transfers between military units at the request of soldiers. This will allow soldiers to change their place of service. Since then, transfers have been made through the Army+ app. Within 72 hours of submitting a request, the soldier receives a response in the app: if the report is rejected, specific reasons are provided, and if approved, clear instructions are given.
