Representatives of the United States and the European Union condemned the Russian "Oreshnik" attacks on Ukraine's energy sector.

In particular, U.S. Representative Tammy Bruce said at the meeting that thanks to the efforts of U.S. President Trump, the parties are closer to peace than at any time since the beginning of the war.

She also called the attacks by Russia a mockery of the Kremlin's peace efforts by President Donald Trump.

On January 12, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) held an emergency meeting in connection with Russia's massive attacks on Ukraine and their consequences.

Earlier, several UN member states supported Ukraine's request to convene a meeting of the UN Security Council after Russia's latest massive strikes and the use of the Oreshnik hypersonic missile. Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga said that Kyiv is initiating urgent consultations not only in the UN Security Council, but also in the NATO-Ukraine, EU, Council of Europe, and OSCE formats in connection with Russia's allegations of using a medium-range ballistic missile against Lviv region.

Currently, Ukraine expects the UN Security Council to take concrete steps to stop Russian aggression and force Moscow to a just and lasting peace.
