Ukrainian Armed Forces strike with drones at Russian Black Sea Fleet base and power plant in Crimea

In Crimea, the night of May 8 was marked by explosions and fires - the Black Sea Fleet communications base in Simferopol and the energy infrastructure in Krasnoperekopsk were hit. After the attacks on the military facilities and the power substation, fires broke out on the peninsula, and local residents reported drones, shooting, and power outages.

On the night of May 8, a series of explosions occurred in the temporarily occupied Crimea. According to local telegram channels and monitoring groups, the Russian military unit in Simferopol and a power substation in Krasnoperekopsk were hit by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, after which large-scale fires broke out.

According to them, the explosions in the Maryino area of Simferopol took place from 01:55 to 02:16. It is there that military unit No. 40136, a communication hub of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, is stationed. Information on the extent of the damage is currently being clarified.

In addition, a fire was recorded at a large power substation 220/35/10 kV Krasnoperekopsk. The monitoring group, citing satellite images, reported significant damage to the facility.

A fire was also spotted on the territory of the Brom chemical plant. Local residents reported flying drones, explosions, shooting, and damage to energy infrastructure.

On the night of April 30, 2026, the Ukrainian Navy attacked the Russian naval fleet in the Kerch Strait.

As a result of the attack, the Sobol patrol boat and the Grachonok anti-sabotage boat, which are part of the Russian security forces, were damaged. According to preliminary data, the enemy suffered irreversible and sanitary losses. These boats are key elements of the security system used to protect the Kerch Bridge and counter sabotage groups in the area.
