The Conroe Trader rail ferry, which sank yesterday in the port of Kavkaz in the Krasnodar Territory of Russia, was destroyed by the Ukrainian military.

This was stated by Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, on Radio Liberty.

"We can confirm the information that this target was destroyed by the Navy. This ferry is one of the important chains of Russian military logistics to supply the occupation forces. First of all, with fuel and lubricants, but, of course, it also transported weapons. Therefore, it is a legitimate target. And accordingly, this should reduce the potential of our enemy's capabilities in those locations where they are actively fighting," Pletenchuk said on Svoboda.Ranok.

He also noted that the other two railroad ferries in this port are not currently operating. One of them is undergoing repairs, and the other, which was hit earlier by the Slavyanin ferry, is waiting for repairs in the Sea of Azov.

The Ukrainian Navy spokesperson did not specify what kind of weapon was used to hit the Conro Trader, but Russian officials said it could have been a Neptune missile.

Earlier it was reported that on August 22, in the port of Kavkaz (Russia), the Ukrainian Defense Forces (AFU) allegedly hit the Russian rail ferryConro Trader with a Neptune missile at 16:30 local time. Babenkov, the head of the Temryuk district of the Krasnodar Territory, said that when the missile hit the ferry, it was carrying 30 railroad tanks with fuel, each containing fifty tons. Therefore, the explosion was so powerful that it was clearly heard in Kerch. A large column of smoke and flames was also visible in Kerch. There were 12 fire brigades at the scene, and a fire train was sent to the port. It was not possible to extinguish the ferry, which was burning heavily: it sank.

It was also said that at the end of May, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully destroyed a ferry crossing of the Russian occupiers in Crimea. It is noted that last night, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Kerch ferry crossing with ATACMS missiles, which was actively used by the enemy to supply its troops in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
