In Kherson region, law enforcement officers detained a 32-year-old chief sergeant of a company of one of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The serviceman was "distinguished" by forcing a subordinate to pay him a bribe of UAH 90 thousand.

These facts are reported by the police communication department in Kherson region.

In exchange for this amount, the sergeant, acting in collusion with his colleague, promised not to initiate an official investigation against the soldier for committing a disciplinary violation - leaving the military unit without permission. In addition, the offender promised to keep the soldier's salary and include the subordinate in a combat order in case of bribery, which would bring the soldier payments for participation in combat operations without actually being on the front line.

At the time of detention, the soldier managed to transfer UAH 30 thousand to the commander's bank account.

The blackmailer was detained while receiving the bribe. The officers of the Department of Strategic Investigations in Kherson region were assisted by the officers of the Kherson regional police, the SBU and the Kherson Zonal Department of the Military Law Enforcement Service. The operation was supervised by the Kherson Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region.

The suspect was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - "Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official". Under this article, the offender can be punished by ten years in prison with confiscation of property and a ban on holding certain positions for up to three years.
