The Security Service of Ukraine has served a notice of suspicion in absentia to Volodymyr Bodelan, the former head of the State Emergency Service in Odesa region and son of the former mayor of Odesa. It is known that he is currently hiding in Russia.

The text of the suspicion was published on the website of the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the investigation, Bodelan Volodymyr Ruslanovych, born in 1975, voluntarily agreed to take the position of deputy so-called "governor" of the occupied Kherson region in September 2023. In January 2024, he was appointed head of the "Permanent Mission of the Kherson Region to the Government of the Russian Federation".

His actions were classified as collaboration under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. If his guilt is proven, Bodelan faces five to ten years in prison with confiscation of all property.

After the occupation of the Kherson region, Bodelan became the deputy of Gauleiter Volodymyr Saldo. Intent has already written that the son of the former mayor of Odesa has recently been appointed a "representative" of the occupation administration of the Kherson region in Moscow.

As reported by the Center for Public Investigations, Bodelan Jr. was put on the wanted list in Ukraine. The court imposed on him a preventive measure in the form of detention. Bodelan is accused of ordering rescuers not to respond to calls on May 2. As a result, 42 people died. At the time of these tragic events, Volodymyr Bodelan was the head of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Odesa Oblast.

After the incident, he immediately fled to Crimea and began to cooperate with the occupation authorities. In June 2023, the Pechersk Court of Kyiv granted the request of law enforcement officers and imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention on the former head of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service, Volodymyr Bodelan.

In October 2020, Volodymyr Bodelan was promoted to a high position in the Russian-occupied Crimea. In particular, he became the deputy head of the Simferopol district administration. He took up his new position on October 5. Previously, he was an "assistant to the head of the Crimean Main Directorate for the support of the republic".
