Ukraine plans to create Space Forces by the end of 2025, according to the government's program of activities. At the same time, the state will develop an integrated air defense system and space components that should reach 60% readiness.

This was reported by UNN.

Ukraine has officially set the task of creating Space Forces by December 31, 2025. The relevant plans are enshrined in the government's program of activities, which the Cabinet of Ministers submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. This will be part of building a new model of defense forces that will meet modern challenges and integrate the latest technologies.

According to the government document, the Space Forces will become a separate element in the structure of Ukraine's defense and security forces. Their creation is related to the need to provide protection against missile and air threats, control the situation in space, and have their own aerospace intelligence capabilities.

Special emphasis is placed on the development of integrated air and missile defense, as well as cyber and space components. According to the plan, by the end of 2025, these areas should reach at least 60% operational readiness, which will allow Ukraine to significantly strengthen its defense capabilities.

In parallel, the government plans to submit to parliament a bill to ratify the agreement with the European Union. This will give Ukraine access to European space programs, including Copernicus, which monitors the environment, Space Weather Events, which monitors the impact of solar activity on Earth processes, and Near-Earth Objects, which aims to detect potentially dangerous asteroids and debris in space.

In addition, in 2026, a number of new defense technologies will be introduced. These include the use of autonomous weapons systems, integration of artificial intelligence into battle management, and development of electronic warfare. Special attention will be paid to the creation of aerospace reconnaissance and digital visualization systems that will be integrated into a single information network to improve command and coordination.

Thus, the government's program defines not only the formation of a new kind of troops, but also a large-scale update of approaches to security and defense, focused on the use of modern technologies and international cooperation.

As Intent previously wrote, in the coming years, Ukraine intends to develop its own space-based Earth observation systems and their components, as well as to enter the global market with space technologies. At the same time, over the next five years, the main task will remain the production of components for rockets and satellites, which is carried out by about 40 Ukrainian enterprises, and the adoption of the experience of foreign specialists in this field.
