Prosecutors of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment against three Russian servicemen to court. They are accused of cruel treatment of civilians, which is a violation of the laws and customs of war.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

In the occupied village of Shlyakhove in the Kherson region, three Russian Armed Forces servicemen from the 34th Special Forces detachment tortured and illegally imprisoned a local resident. During the so-called 'filtration measures', they detained the man and took him to the village council building. There, according to the investigation, the occupiers severely beat him, tortured him, imitated execution by shooting him near the temple, and shot him in the leg, demanding information about cooperation with the Armed Forces.

The occupiers did not stop there. According to the investigation, after torturing him, they took him to an open area and forced him to dig his own grave, threatening to kill his family. Upon returning to the victim's home, the occupiers continued to abuse his son, who was beaten on the head with the butt of an assault rifle, interrogated about his attitude to the so-called 'special operation' and possible service in the Ukrainian army. After searching the house, the military left the scene.

The pre-trial investigation in this case was conducted by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Kherson region, with operational support from the SBU and the National Police.

In 2023, during the occupation of Kherson, a torture chamber was organized in the premises of a temporary detention center . Investigators of the Specialized War Crimes Investigation Department worked on solving and documenting crimes committed by the Russian military during the occupation of the city, with operational support from the Criminal Investigation Department, the Department of Operational and Technical Measures, the Criminal Analysis Department, the Cyber Police and the Security Service of Ukraine.
