Three cars burned down in Odesa district due to a fatal accident

The accident that killed a person and injured five others occurred on the evening of May 9 in the village of Limanka, Odesa region.

According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Odesa Oblast, three cars caught fire as a result of the collision.

Rescuers extinguished the fire and hospitalized the victims.

Earlier, a road accident involving a minibus occurred in Odesa on the morning of April 7, killing a passenger. A minibus collided with a shuttle bus while they were traveling in the same direction. One public transport passenger was killed and several others sustained various injuries. Subsequently, the State Bureau of Investigation began investigating the case because the minibus was driven by a military officer and he is believed to be the culprit of the accident.

On the morning of June 7, 2025, a traffic accident occurred on the Odesa-Mykolaiv highway near the village of Malovarvarivka, Mykolaiv district, in which four people were injured.

And in 2024, Odesa region was among the three regions with the highest number of accidents committed by drunk drivers - 7,733 reports, second only to Dnipro (8,745) and Kyiv (8,176). At the same time, the Prosecutor General's Office opened more than a thousand criminal proceedings for such offenses, which is 11% more than in 2023. That year, there were more than 1,000 accidents caused by drunk drivers, 110 of which resulted in deaths and 1,302 people were injured. Every 25th accident with victims was caused by intoxicated drivers.
