The wife of the dismissed rector of the Odesa Maritime Academy became the owner of two apartments last year

Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi has ordered the dismissal of Mykhailo Miyusov from the post of rector of the National University of Odesa Maritime Academy and his replacement with Vadym Zakharchenko, who previously held the post of vice-rector.

This was reported by the university.

In April, Mykhailo Miyusov announced the creation of a single maritime higher education institution, which could be based on two existing ones - Odesa Maritime Academy and Odesa National Maritime University. At the time, there were protests in Odesa against this, but the ministry did not change its mind. Now Mykhailo Miyusov can participate in the election of the rector of the merged institution.

In his declaration before his dismissal, Mykhailo Miyusov indicated that in 2024 his wife became the owner of two apartments in Odesa, 92.1 square meters and 35.5 square meters, each worth 40 thousand hryvnias. She also owns a land plot of 899 square meters in Krasnosilka. Mykhailo Miyusov himself owns a 326.6-square-meter house and a hectare of land in the village of Limanka. The former rector has a 2012 Toyota Camry.

The family's income consisted of the ex-rector's pension of UAH 141,660, his wife's pension of UAH 20,640, and his salary of UAH 732,350. The family's savings consisted of: 12.4 thousand euros, 73 thousand US dollars, and 120 thousand hryvnias in cash from Mykhailo Miyusov, 4 thousand 847 hryvnias in his wife's account, and 46 thousand 279 hryvnias, 2 thousand 257 dollars, and 2 thousand 182 euros in the accounts of the former rector himself.

His successor indicated in the declaration that last year he bought a 32.9-square-meter garage in Kryzhanivka, and that he and his wife looked after their deceased father's apartment and house; they did not acquire ownership of this property last year. In 2022, Vadym Zakharchenko's wife acquired ownership of a 900-square-meter plot of land in Ovidiopol. He also owns two garages of 18 and 19.5 square meters. His wife and daughter jointly own an apartment in Odesa of 50.1 square meters. They also jointly own an apartment of 71.6 square meters. The new rector also owns half of a 67.7-square-meter apartment in Odesa.

Vadym Zakharchenko owns two cars, a GAZ-31105 and a VAZ-11183. His income includes: main and part-time salary of Vadym Zakharchenko - UAH 709 thousand and UAH 53 thousand 298, fees and other payments under civil law contracts - UAH 411 thousand 832, pension - UAH 277 thousand 960, royalties - UAH 12.6 thousand. He also received UAH 76.6 thousand in assistance for the burial of his father. His wife received UAH 275,182 in salary and UAH 4.5 thousand in benefits.

Vadym Zakharchenko keeps his money in cash: 50 thousand hryvnias, 6 thousand euros, 8 thousand US dollars, 3 thousand British pounds and 500 Polish zlotys. In banks: 1 million 220.3 thousand hryvnias, 5 thousand 533 US dollars and 8 thousand 663 euros for Vadym Zakharchenko and 21 thousand hryvnias for his wife.
