The court ordered the Russian Federation to pay more than UAH 83 million to a company controlled by MP Labaziuk for the losses of an enterprise in Kherson region during the occupation. The court rejected the lost profit of more than UAH 290 million due to lack of evidence.

This was reported by the online edition of TrueUA with reference to the court decision.

The Kyiv Economic Court ordered the Russian Federation to pay more than 83 million hryvnias to the Ukrainian company URDI Ukrainian Roads as compensation for property losses as a result of the war. This refers to a mineral powder plant and 33 pieces of equipment that were located in the Kherson region - in particular, in Nova Kakhovka - and were lost after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022.

The company filed a lawsuit against Russia, represented by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. It demanded a total of UAH 374.9 million: UAH 83.75 million in material damages and another UAH 291.18 million in lost profits that the company could have received if it had not lost its property.

However, the court agreed with only part of the claim - for compensation for actual losses. The court dismissed the claim for lost profits, noting that the company had not provided convincing evidence that it would have actually received the funds. The amounts were recognized as an assumption rather than actual losses.

The company URDI Ukrainian Roads is registered in Khmelnytskyi and its beneficiary is the current Member of Parliament of Ukraine Serhii Labaziuk, who represents the Party For the Future parliamentary group and is a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Agrarian Policy.

In November 2023, the NABU notified Labasiuk of suspicion of attempting to bribe high-ranking officials related to infrastructure restoration. The politician also owns a number of agricultural and construction companies. The MP tried to obtain state contracts for infrastructure restoration worth about UAH 1 billion.

As a "thank you", he offered a high-ranking official from the ministry a reward of 3-5% of the value of each state order. Before the invasion, Labaziuk's company was among the ten largest contractors of the Big Construction projects. In Mykolaiv region alone, it received contracts worth more than UAH 1.5 billion.

Recently, a court in France dismissed Russia's complaint and upheld the decision to pay more than $1.5 billion in compensation for damage caused by the annexation of Crimea. In addition, 300 thousand euros of court costs were collected from the Russian side, and Ukraine has already seized assets of the Russian Federation worth more than 87 million euros.
