Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded lifetime and two-year state scholarships to three cultural figures from the Odesa region.
This was announced by Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.
According to him, Valentina Gubska —a Distinguished Artist of Ukraine and a leading actress at the Odesa Theater for Young Audiences—will receive the lifetime scholarship. Over more than 50 years of creative work, she has played dozens of vivid and diverse roles, mentored a younger generation of artists, and actively supported the volunteer movement.
Two-year state scholarships have been awarded to Valentina Nikirui and Nina Morozhevich. Valentyna Nikiruy is an Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine and the long-standing director of the “Veselka” Folk Ensemble of Ukrainian Folk Music from Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. For over 50 years, she has been preserving and promoting musical traditions, and her ensemble proudly represents Ukraine on the international stage.
Nina Morozhevich is an Honored Artist of Ukraine, a candidate of art history, a professor, and the head of the Department of Folk Instruments at the A.V. Nezhdanova Odessa National Music Academy. Her contribution to the development of Ukrainian musical art, the promotion of the bandura, and the training of new generations of musicians is known far beyond Ukraine’s borders.
In April, the First Volunteer Mobile Hospital (PDMSH) named after Mykola Pirogov, in collaboration with the Odesa National Medical University, announced the creation of a scholarship named in honor of Oleksandr Polyakin.
In February, during a session, deputies of the Fontanka Village Council in the Odesa region approved regulations regarding bonuses for the village council secretary, the deputy chair of the village council, village heads, and the executive committee’s administrative manager.
