The occupiers removed the roof from a school in the Skadovsk district under the pretext of repairs and did not put it back on

<span><span><span><span><span><span>In the village of Shiroke in the Skadovsk District of the Kherson region, the occupiers dismantled the roof of a local school. Work has since been completely halted, so it is unclear whether classes will resume there in September.</span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>According to activists from the “Yellow Ribbon” movement, the occupying authorities began repairs in April 2026. The children were reportedly temporarily switched to remote learning. However, work stopped after the roof was dismantled. No repairs are being carried out, even though construction materials are still on the school grounds. It is now nearly impossible for the occupying authorities to fulfill their promise to open the school before the start of the new school year due to the lack of time. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

<span><span><span><span><span><span>Regular power outages and communication disruptions remain an additional problem for the children’s education. Consequently, distance learning is largely inaccessible to them. </span></span></span></span></span></span>

Earlier,<span><span><span><span><span><span>the occupiers in the Kherson region opened a “Foster Parent School” for Russian citizens. According to </span></span></span></span></span></span>the occupying authorities’ plan, course participants will undergo special training, after which they will be able to apply for guardianship or adoption of children residing in the temporarily occupied territories. The goal is to create foster families for children who have been left without parental care.

The Ukrainian side has repeatedly stated that such programs are part of the aggressor country’s systematic policy aimed at the illegal transfer of Ukrainian children to Russia. Instead of searching for relatives, returning children to a safe Ukrainian environment, or ensuring their right to remain in Ukraine, the occupying administration is creating mechanisms for their further removal.
