Health Minister Viktor Liashko has approved the draft development plan for the Odesa Hospital District proposed by the Odesa Regional Administration.

According to the press service of the Odesa Regional State Administration, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine must now approve the project.

Currently, the protocol-capable network of health care facilities in the Odesa Hospital District has been confirmed by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, all heads of district military administrations and territorial communities.

The Odesa Hospital District has five supercluster medical institutions, 13 cluster hospitals, 19 general hospitals, 19 institutions proposed for accession, primary health care centers and an emergency and disaster medicine center with permanent locations for emergency (ambulance) teams.

"Within three years, the medical institutions that have joined the capable network must demonstrate their development by providing themselves with the latest equipment, necessary specialists, and implement a number of infrastructure changes: repair, reconstruction, and construction of new buildings based on the principle of a capable network," said Natalia Odariy-Zakharieva, director of the Health Department of Odesa Regional State Administration.

Medical institutions that are not part of the capable hospital network will continue to operate and will be able to continue to sign contracts with the National Health Service of Ukraine under the medical guarantee program, carry out modernization and purchase expensive equipment, but only at the expense of the local budget.
