The High Council of Justice has dismissed judge of the Southern City Court of Odesa Region Zemfira Baranovska in connection with her resignation.

This was reported by the HCJ press service.

The judge is known for closing the case of Pivdennyi port officials in 2024, who were accused of causing the state losses of 100 million by their actions and misappropriating budget funds due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.

According to the investigation, in May 2017, the officials entered into an agreement with a commercial entity to perform dredging in the waters of the Pivdennyi seaport. At the same time, the cost of the relevant work was artificially inflated. Investigators found that public money was transferred to the contractor's accounts, but the actual scope of work did not correspond to the documents.

According to the judge' s declaration for 2024, she owns an apartment in Odesa with an area of 68.1 square meters, uses a land plot in the village of Pshoyanove of the Vizier community with an area of 1,80 square meters and an apartment in Pivdenne with an area of 32.9 square meters.

He has no cars, securities, or savings. Their income consisted of salaries - UAH 1 million 393.9 thousand for her and UAH 91.2 thousand for her husband.

In September 2011, the High Qualification Commission of Judges opened disciplinary proceedings against Zemfira Baranovska, a judge of the Southern (then Pivdennyi) City Court of Odesa Oblast (she then had the surname Asanova).

Less than four years later, on April 30, 2015, SBU officers detained her on suspicion of taking a bribe. According to law enforcement officers, the detainee, with the mediation of Judge Andriy Lupenko of the Suvorov District Court of Odesa, allegedly demanded and received an undue reward of $5,000 from the plaintiff. The detainee allegedly valued a positive decision in a civil case about a dispute over a child at this amount. Almost six months later, in July 2015, the High Qualification Commission of Judges suspended her for two months from work in connection with a criminal prosecution on suspicion of bribery. However, she returned to work two months later.
