Roman Nemashkalo, head of the Volyn Regional TCC, denied that he or his brother Serhiy had any connection to illegal armed groups in the Luhansk region. He mentioned his work at the Odesa Prosecutor’s Office and the Tarutino training ground.
He made these remarks during an off-site meeting of the Verkhovna Rada’s Temporary Investigative Commission in Lutsk.
The issue arose due to a profile on the “Myrotvorets” website. It states that Serhiy Nemashkalo allegedly took part in fighting in the Alchevsk area as part of the so-called Denikin Volunteer Brigade and was also involved in the seizure of the Luhansk Regional State Administration.
At the TSC meeting, Roman Nemashkalo was asked whether this information was true.
He stated that in 2018 he worked at the prosecutor’s office in Odesa and was involved in returning the Tarutyne training ground to the ownership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, it was during this work that information about him appeared on “Myrotvorets.”
Nemashkal claims that he contacted the website’s authors as a public figure, after which the information about him was removed. According to him, his brother did not contest the information on the website because he was an entrepreneur and the published dossier did not affect his work.
“Neither I nor my brother have any connection to the Denikin Battalion. We left the occupied territory and have never returned there,” stated the head of the Volyn Territorial Coordination Center.
He also noted that there had previously been a profile on“Myrotvorets” about him as well, in which he was allegedly linked to the seizure of the Luhansk Regional State Administration. Nemashkalo denies these allegations.
According to the military commissar, mentions of him and his brother on the website appeared in connection with his work at the Odesa Prosecutor’s Office and the case regarding the return of the Tarutyn training ground to the state.
“Myrotvorets” is a Ukrainian database website that publishes information about individuals whom its administrators consider to be involved in crimes against Ukraine’s national security, terrorism, separatism, or collaboration with the occupying authorities. The website was created by volunteers and activists after the start of Russian aggression in 2014.
