Teacher of art college dies in Odesa

Viktor Homanyuk, a graphic artist and teacher of special disciplines at the M.B. Grekov Odesa Art College, has died.

This was reported by the press service of the college.

He was also the chairman of the cycle commission and head of the educational and professional department "Artistic Design", a member of the Odesa regional organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

He taught the following disciplines: "Drawing", "Painting", "Fundamentals of Composition and Professional Skill", "Technologies (fonts)", "Graphic Techniques and Author's Book".

Viktor Homanyuk was born in the village of Mykhailivka, Berezansky district, Mykolaiv region. Then he studied in Russia and later taught at an Odesa college for 29 years.

In March, Albina Ovchynnikova, a professor, teacher, art critic, and author of acting textbooks, died on March 30 after a long illness.

In February, a prominent Crimean Tatar artist and ethnographer Mamut Churlu died in the temporarily occupied Crimea at the age of 78. Valeriy Khayit, vice president of the World Club of Odessans and one of the co-founders of the Odesa-based Humoryna, died on February 1.

One of Valeriy Hait's sons, Yevhen, died in January 2024 of a cardiac arrest. In the same year, a researcher and popularizer of Leonid Utesov's work, a member of the World Club of Odessans, Borys Amchyslavskyi, died on March 29 in New York.

As well as two former members of the KVN team of Odesa State (now I. Mechnikov National) University, Svitoslav Pelishenko and Oleksandr Teplytskyi.

In the same year, archaeologist, employee of the Odesa Archaeological Museum, Yevhenia Redina, who for many years was the head of the museum's numismatics and torevtic sector, died on December 14.
