The Security Service of Ukraine detained a man in Odesa on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack ordered by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, which was supposed to kill a soldier.

This was reported by the SBU press service.

According to the investigation, the executor of the Russian order was a 31-year-old resident of Odesa region, recruited through Telegram channels in search of "easy money." At first, he was given a so-called test task - to set fire to a military vehicle. After completing it, the agent received instructions on how to organize the assassination attempt.

In particular, he had to take an improvised explosive device (IED) from a previously prepared cache and plant it at the military's place of residence. The SBU officers exposed the hostile intentions and documented the criminal's criminal actions step by step.

According to the investigation, the agent's task was to plant explosives with fragmentation elements in a playground in one of the residential districts of Odesa. Then, Russian special services planned to remotely activate the IED using a mobile phone with which the explosives were equipped.

The SBU operatives detained the suspect immediately after he planted the explosive device at the site of the planned terrorist attack.

The detainee was served a notice of suspicion under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine

A custody without the right to be released on bail was chosen as a measure of restraint.

Earlier, a woman was detained in Odesa region who made an explosive device to blow up one of the units of the military law enforcement service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
