Since the beginning of this year, Odesa police have registered 251 offenders, and in total, they have 1,974 offenders on their books.

This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa Oblast.

Law enforcement officers issued 306 temporary restraining orders, drew up 512 reports for domestic violence and 61 for failure to comply with an urgent restraining order. Investigators opened 37 criminal proceedings based on the materials of the mobile teams.

According to police, statistics show that women and the elderly are more likely to be victims of domestic aggressors. For example, a 39-year-old woman from Odesa recently reported to the police that her 40-year-old partner was using foul language against her, threatening her with physical violence and getting into a fight. For domestic violence, the police have repeatedly drawn up reports against the man under Article 173-2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, and the court has ordered him to pay fines.

He was warned about criminal liability if he did not change his behavior towards his common-law wife, but he did not heed the instructions of law enforcement officers. After the woman's next appeal, the police initiated proceedings under Article 126-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which qualifies systematic domestic violence, and notified the offender of suspicion. The offender faces imprisonment.

In August 2023, Svitlana Kryvoshchapova, head of the social and legal protection of children's services of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, reported that the level of abuse of minors had increased in 2023 compared to the previous year.
