The Kherson City Court sentenced a Ukrainian citizen in absentia to 14 years in prison for voluntarily working for the occupying law enforcement agency in the Kherson region. She was also barred from holding positions in law enforcement or government agencies for 14 years, and all of her property was confiscated.

This is stated in the judgment of the Kherson City Court.

According to the case file, the woman agreed to work for the “Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kherson Region,” an agency illegally established by the occupying administration. In July 2022, she assumed the position of acting assistant investigator at the Dnipro City Police Department, and in August of that same year, she became an acting investigator.

The court examined personnel documents from the occupying authority, appointment orders, employee rosters, and witness testimony. One witness identified the defendant among members of the occupying police who arrived at the scene where Russian military equipment had struck a residential building. Another witness stated that he had seen her as part of an investigative and operational team following a store robbery. According to him, the woman was wearing a uniform with Russian symbols and carrying a weapon, and she was questioning people about ATO participants and Ukrainian police officers.

The court concluded that the woman voluntarily took a position in an illegal law enforcement agency, and no evidence of physical or psychological coercion was found. She was found guilty under Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—collaboration.

The case was heard in absentia, as the defendant was not present. She was placed on the national and international wanted lists, and her interests in court were represented by a court-appointed attorney. Her prison term will be calculated from the date of her actual arrest.
