The Security Service of Ukraine detained a man in Odesa on suspicion of collaborating with the Russian Federation, in particular, in adjusting air attacks on the city.
According to the investigation, the detainee's main tasks were to find the coordinates of local air defense.
SBU officers detained the man while conducting counter-sabotage operations. According to the case file, the corrector was a local computer repairman recruited by Russian special services through TikTok.
He came to the attention of the Russians because of his pro-Kremlin views, which he wrote about on social media. It was established that the racists used a fake account of a foreign journalist to recruit the man.
After receiving an agent briefing, the suspect began to track the combat positions of anti-aircraft missile systems, radar stations and mobile fire groups defending Odesa. To do this, he traveled around the area on a moped and recorded the coordinates of potential targets on Google maps.
He accumulated the collected information on his smartphone for further transmission to a curator from Russia through an anonymous chat in a popular messenger. It is also documented how the suspect coordinated his actions with the Russian special service via text and voice messages.
During the search, the SBU seized a cell phone with evidence of working for the enemy. SBU investigators served the agent a notice of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law. The detainee is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Earlier, the Peresypskyi District Court of Odesa found a local resident guilty of high treason and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
