The Security Service of Ukraine has detained an agent of the Russian special services who was preparing coordinates for a new series of air strikes on Odesa.

According to the SBU, the potential targets of the enemy included reserve command posts and administrative buildings of the Defense Forces.

"In order to break through Ukrainian air defense during an enemy attack, the agent tried to identify and pass on the coordinates of the Armed Forces radar stations to the occupiers. In addition, to obtain information about the actual presence of Ukrainian defenders at temporary or permanent bases, the suspect installed hidden cameras," the security forces said.

For example, he disguised one of them opposite the main entrance to the SBU administrative building. The agent transferred the footage from the video device's flash drive to his cell phone and then sent it to his Russian supervisor via messenger.

The SBU CI exposed the man, documented his actions and detained him. At the same time, the SBU took comprehensive measures to secure the locations of the Defense Forces.

According to the investigation, the Russian agent was a 21-year-old local unemployed man who wanted to make quick money on Telegram channels.

He was recruited there by the occupiers and assigned appropriate tasks. During the searches, the SBU seized video cameras with flash drives, as well as a phone and SIM cards, which he periodically changed to conceal communication with the occupiers.

Based on the collected evidence, SBU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).

The offender is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Earlier, the SBU and the National Police exposed a Russian agent who was preparing a terrorist attack in southern Ukraine on behalf of the enemy. Earlier, the SBU military counterintelligence detained a man suspected of spying on ships in the Black Sea in Odesa.

Earlier, the special services detained a 32-year-old woman from Odesa who was remotely recruited by a career officer of the Russian special operations forces late last year. The SBU insists that on his instructions, the traitor set fire to a relay cabinet of a signal installation and a transformer substation on a local railway line.

In addition, a group of saboteurs who tried to disrupt the work of the Odesa Railroad for money were put on trial. They received their tasks from the Russian special services.
