A court in Odesa found a man detained in November 2022 guilty of high treason and sentenced him to 15 years in prison.

This was reported by the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.

The offender was adjusting the missile and drone attacks of the Nazis on the port city. As the investigation revealed, he drove around the regional center in his own car and recorded the locations of the Defense Forces on a hidden video recorder.

The agent stored the collected information on a memory card, which he planned to pass on to his Russian supervisor. In case of receiving the intelligence, the racists planned to use it to target missile weapons and attack drones at the locations of Ukrainian troops.

SBU officers were proactive and detained the traitor on his attempt to transfer intelligence to the aggressor country. According to the investigation, the local unemployed man recruited by Russian special services was performing intelligence tasks for Russia. He came to the attention of the Nazis when he published pro-Kremlin posts in Telegram chats.

In exchange for cooperation with the enemy, the traitor hoped to get a position in the occupation administration in case of the capture of Odesa. During the searches, the SBU found a video recorder, a memory card and a smartphone with evidence of work for Russia hidden in the car.

Earlier, the Shevchenkivskyi District Court in Chernivtsi convicted a native of Donetsk region of high treason and creation of a terrorist group. In May 2020, the accused joined the DNR terrorist organization, held the position of an operative of the Horlivka City Department of the DNR Ministry of State Security and assisted in subversive activities against Ukraine.

The defendant was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property, except for housing. Earlier, the Peresypskyi District Court of Odesa found a local resident guilty of high treason and sentenced him to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
