In Kherson, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a 34-year-old local resident who worked for Russian intelligence and helped the enemy to carry out artillery strikes on the city.

This was reported by the SBU press service.

The offender voluntarily contacted the occupiers through a special chatbot of Russian intelligence, offering his services for money. His task was to record the consequences of the shelling of Kherson, as well as to transmit coordinates for new attacks to the enemy.

After each shelling, the man would go to the sites of hits and send information about the extent of the destruction, coordinates, and data on the victims via the chatbot. In addition, he collected intelligence on the positions of the Ukrainian military, including checkpoints, strongholds and the number of personnel in the coastal areas of the city.

Law enforcement officers detained him near the house where he lived. During the search, they seized his cell phone with evidence of his cooperation with the enemy.

The detainee was served a notice of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The operation was conducted by the SBU in Kherson region under the procedural supervision of the regional prosecutor's office.

Recently, the court sentenced a resident of Chornobaivka who organized a base for Russian military equipment and helped to resettle Russians during the occupation of Kherson region. The man was found guilty of aiding the aggressor state.

Meanwhile, the Security Service of Ukraine served suspicion notices in absence to two residents of Kherson who collaborated with the Russian invaders during the occupation of the city. One of them is a former manager of Khersongaz JSC. The investigation established that he is 59-year-old Volodymyr Kramarenko, who before the war served as the first deputy chairman of the board of Khersongaz. The second defendant in the case is 68-year-old Serhiy Leshchenko, the former head of the Kherson Main Gas Pipeline Department.
