On the morning of December 30, Russia again attacked Odesa region with attack drones. Despite the active work of air defense forces, damage to industrial and port infrastructure in Odesa district was recorded.

This was reported by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper.

"As a result of the shelling of an industrial enterprise, empty oil storage tanks were damaged. One person was injured.

A civilian vessel that was in the port area was also damaged. There were no fires. There were no reports of fatalities or injuries.

Special services are working at the scene. Law enforcement officers are recording the consequences of yet another war crime against the civilian population of Odesa region.

Earlier, a fire broke out in the Pivdennyi port as a result of a Russian army strike in Odesa region, setting about 30 containers of flour and vegetable oil on fire.

The Odesa coast suffered large-scale pollution due to a sunflower oil spill. After the wind direction changed, the consequences of the attack on Pivdennyi port reached the Gulf. Otrada and Lanzheron beaches suffered the most, as they were covered with an oily film. Dozens of dead birds were found on the shore, mostly Lesser White-fronted Geese.

The disaster was caused by missile and drone strikes on the Allseeds terminal. Oil tanks were damaged, and open sources report that thousands of tons of oil were spilled.

The Gulf of Odesa, as a natural "trap" for the surface film, keeps the pollution on the coast, making it difficult to eliminate it. Even with variable winds, the film will remain within the Gulf, and contaminated areas can expand along the coast. He advised to urgently assess the risks of oil entering the Kuyalnik estuary and, if necessary, to cut off the supply of seawater.
