The Office of the Prosecutor General has confirmed the forced deportation of 648 Ukrainian children to Russia, most of whom are boarding school children in Kherson and Donetsk regions.

This was reported by the press service of the Office.

In total, 25 people have been notified of suspicion in the deportation proceedings, including Russian MPs, military officers and representatives of the occupation administrations. Currently, Ukrainian authorities are taking measures to search for more than 20,000 Ukrainian children.

In addition, investigators have documented the facts of mass militarization and indoctrination of adolescents in the occupied territories. Russia bans the Ukrainian language, imposes its educational programs and promotes service in the aggressor's army. Currently, 28 criminal proceedings are being investigated into the militarization of Ukrainian children, 34 people have been notified of suspicion, 12 indictments have been sent to court, and 3 guilty verdicts have been delivered.

At least 581 criminal proceedings are being investigated for indoctrination and propagation of hostile historical and political narratives, 439 people have been served with notices of suspicion, 421 indictments have been sent to court, and 155 guilty verdicts have been delivered.

Russia is also diligently concealing the traces of the crimes: changing documents, children's names and surnames, conducting forced passportization and illegal adoptions.

"The authorities of .rf are not just trying to take away Ukrainian children. They are trying to change their documents, citizenship, language, education, memory and self-identification. That is why we are talking about a coordinated policy of assimilation, indoctrination and militarization ," said Deputy Prosecutor General Viktor Logachev.

In March 2026, the mandate of the Joint Investigation Team was expanded to investigate the deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia and Belarus, forced change of citizenship and illegal adoption.
