A court in Vinnytsia region has remanded a resident of Odesa region in custody with the right to be released on bail for attempting to smuggle two men abroad.

This was reported by the press service of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Prosecutors served the man with a notice of suspicion of illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine and obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period.

Investigators found that the 43-year-old resident of Odesa region agreed to deliver two men liable for military service to the state border in his own car. He estimated his services at USD 100 per person. The conscripts failed to leave Ukraine.

If proven guilty, the man faces a maximum sentence of eight years in prison.

Meanwhile, employees of the State Bureau of Investigation notified a border guard inspector of suspicion of organizing the transportation of conscripts across the state border of Ukraine to the Transnistrian region of Moldova.

At the meeting, the inspector provided the man with detailed instructions on the route and the means necessary for a successful trip. On a certain day, the serviceman used a special application on his cell phone screen to show him the areas where he could make an illegal crossing.

Earlier, Artur Rudko, a former goalkeeper of the Odesa football club Chornomorets, was detained while trying to illegally leave Ukraine. The incident occurred while he was crossing the state border.

Also, the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police dismantled seven new mobilization evasion schemes, three of which were in Odesa region. According to the investigation, in one case, a 28-year-old Odesa resident organized the smuggling of men of military age across the state border of Ukraine outside checkpoints, involving several acquaintances.
