Pseudo-volunteer in Mykolaiv region collects money "for the Armed Forces of Ukraine"

A man was exposed in Mykolaiv region who, under the name of a well-known charity foundation, was raising money allegedly for the needs of the Ukrainian military. He was served a notice of suspicion of fraud.

This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the investigation, the scheme was organized by a 26-year-old resident of Mykolaiv region. He posted a video of a well-known charity fund on YouTube calling for funds to be transferred allegedly for the needs of one of the mountain assault brigades.

At the same time, he changed the details for transferring funds and received donations to accounts under his control.

According to preliminary data, in this way he managed to seize more than UAH 1 million of citizens' funds. He spent the donations in virtual casinos and on a luxurious life.

Law enforcement officers detained him in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine in the city of Novyi Buh, Mykolaiv region.

The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is currently being decided. The circle of persons affected by the fraud is being established.
