Propaganda books about Russian military personnel were brought into Crimea

In occupied Crimea, school libraries are being stocked with propaganda literature about participants in the war against Ukraine. In this way, the Russian occupation authorities are intensifying the systematic militarization of education and attempting to impose the Kremlin’s ideology on children.

Specifically, the book in question is *You Are Not Alone*, the second volume of which was recently published. The book compiles stories of Russian servicemen and volunteers, whom the authors portray as “heroes” who allegedly “liberated Mariupol,” fought in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, and also took part in combat operations in the Kursk region.

It is known that the book is intended for use in school libraries. In addition, local schools regularly organize so-called “Conversations About What Matters,” mandatory rituals involving the raising of the Russian flag and the singing of the Russian national anthem have been introduced, the network of military clubs is being actively expanded, and schoolchildren are being encouraged to learn how to operate unmanned aerial vehicles.

As Intent previously reported, in occupied Crimea, the Russians have enlisted teenagers as young as 14 to compete in drone piloting contests as part of the so-called “Crimean Drone League.” Such activities are part of a systematic effort to militarize Ukrainian children in the occupied territories with the aim of eventually recruiting them into the Russian army.
