On October 17, rolling blackouts will be implemented in Odesa and the surrounding region. Power will be cut off according to a schedule for 12 hours.

This was reported by DTEK “Odesa Power Grids.”

DTEK Odessa Power Grids received an order from NEC “Ukrenergo” to implement stabilizing power outages. The restrictions will be in effect from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

DTEK is urging Odessa residents to use electricity sparingly. The lower the consumption, the less strain on the grid and the lower the risk of emergency outages.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the day before, Russia had launched one of the most powerful strikes against Ukraine’s energy sector in recent times.

More than 15 critical power generation and transmission facilities in various regions of Ukraine were attacked. The situation is most critical in Lutsk, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Shepetivka, Slavuta, and Netishyn,” he wrote.

According to the president, strikes also targeted energy infrastructure in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and other regions.

The head of state noted that from 7:00 p.m. the previous day until 7:00 a.m., Russian troops had used more than 320 jet- and gasoline-powered attack drones against Ukraine, as well as cruise and ballistic missiles and loitering munitions.

The Ukrainian military shot down a significant portion of the aerial targets; however, the massive and continuous strikes on energy facilities are having significant consequences and are straining the capacity to restore damaged infrastructure.
