Specialists have repaired the high-voltage line connecting Ukraine and Moldova, which was damaged and caused problems with electricity supply from the neighboring country.

This was announced by Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal.

According to him, the repairs were completed at two in the morning and this added 500 megawatts of power to stabilize the power supply of the South.

"We are increasing the pace of implementation of cogeneration units. Yesterday, a 1.5 MW unit was put into operation in Kyiv region. Tomorrow we expect to launch another 1 MW. In January alone, we added about 4.5 MW to the Kyiv region. At the same time, we are working to simplify the conditions for the deployment of our own generation as much as possible," the minister reported.

Earlier, DTEK Odesa Power Grid managed to restore power to 320,000 households in 558 settlements of Odesa Oblast that were cut off from electricity supply after the bad weather.

Power grids in Berezovsky, Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky and Odessky districts of the region suffered the most damage.

On the night of January 31, as forecasted by weather forecasters, the weather in Odesa region deteriorated, with temperatures dropping and snow starting to fall. As of the morning of 31 January, customers in Podilskyi, Berezivskyi, Rozdilnyanskyi, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi and Odesa districts were without electricity. In Odesa, electricity is supplied to critical infrastructure facilities.

At the same time, due to serious problems in the Ukrainian power grid, on the morning of Saturday, January 31, at 10:42 a.m., the voltage on the 400 kV Isaccea-Vulcanesti MPP line dropped, causing an emergency shutdown of the power system. Vehicles and goods were temporarily not allowed to cross the Ukrainian-Moldovan border due to the failure of the central databases of the customs authorities of the Republic of Moldova.
