In Mykolaiv, police officers are already providing security in 23 schools as part of the Educational Security Officer project.

This was announced during a live broadcast by Hanna Lychko, Head of the Education Department of the Mykolaiv City Council.

According to her, the project started in September 2025 and is being implemented by the National Police of Ukraine. Officers are currently working in 23 educational institutions in the city.

The main functions of the police officers are to control access control, prevent the introduction of dangerous objects, and conduct preventive and safety work with students and parents.

In addition, in the event of an offense, officers have the right to draw up administrative reports, including against parents. According to the official, this increases the responsibility of families for the behavior of their children.

Also, together with the patrol police, metal detectors are being installed in some schools - they are currently in operation in six institutions.

The city authorities note that the implementation of such measures is aimed at improving the safety of students in educational institutions.
