The Khadzhybeyskyi District Court of Odesa found the police officer guilty of failing to file an income declaration and fined him UAH 42,500.

According to the Center for Public Investigations, the verdict states that the native of Dobroslav served as a junior inspector of Platoon 2 of the Response Company of Battalion 2 of the Security Police Department in Odesa Oblast, and resigned from this position on January 4, 2024.

He knew that he had to file a declaration when he resigned, but he did not do so. Interrogated at the court hearing, the accused pleaded guilty to the criminal offense in full, confirmed the above circumstances and expressed sincere remorse for his actions.

The court considered the defendant's sincere remorse to be a mitigating circumstance, and took into account that in addition to the defendant's admission of the crime, there was also a real, frank, not imaginary admission of his guilt in the actions committed, about which the defendant expressed sincere regret and publicly condemned his behavior in court. According to the court, the sincerity of the repentance is also evidenced by the fact that the accused gave truthful testimony in court and was willing to be punished.

Earlier, the Khadzhybeyskyi District Court of Odesa found another police officer guilty of failing to file an income declaration. On July 30, 2021, the man was dismissed from his position as a junior inspector of a platoon of the company for the protection of facilities and public security and was supposed to submit a declaration to the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption upon his dismissal, but did not do so.

The police officer was eventually sentenced to a fine of 2.6 thousand tax-free minimum incomes, which is 44.2 thousand hryvnias, and an additional penalty of deprivation of the right to hold positions related to the performance of state and local government functions for a period of one year.
