Police find weapons with ammo in car of man from Mykolaiv region

In Pervomaisk district, a drunk man opened fire with an assault rifle on the territory of a village cemetery. The incident occurred in Lysa Hora. Law enforcement officers detained the 50-year-old shooter and launched an investigation into illegal handling of weapons and gross violation of public order.

This was reported by the Police of Mykolaiv region.

During a medical examination, the offender was found to have 1.16 ppm of alcohol in his blood. In the course of urgent investigative actions, law enforcement officers searched the car and the suspect's place of residence, where they found and seized automatic weapons, ammunition and an anti-personnel grenade. All seized weapons have been sent for expert examination.

Under the procedural supervision of the Pervomaisk District Prosecutor's Office, investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Part 1 Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on illegal handling of weapons and ammunition. The sanction of the article provides for up to seven years in prison. The court has already imposed on the suspect a custodial measure of restraint with a possibility of bail. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

It is also known that in Mykolaiv, the director of a maritime company turned his house into a secret arsenal with dozens of assault rifles, grenade launchers and thousands of rounds of ammunition. The court found him guilty of illegal possession of weapons.

According to the investigation, in the fall of 2023, the director of the maritime company Transas Ukraine LLC intentionally and without any permits purchased a significant amount of combat firearms, ammunition and explosives. We are talking about dozens of Kalashnikov assault rifles of various modifications, handguns, GP-25 under-barrel grenade launcher, RPG-7V and RPG-22 anti-tank grenade launchers, as well as F-1, RGO, RGD-5 grenade cases with fuses. In addition, thousands of live rounds of various calibers were found on the man's person.
