The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has found not guilty a number of representatives of the former management of the Pivdennyi port, who were accused of unjustified salary accrual.

This was reported by the HACC press service.

These are: the Deputy Director for Legal and Property Affairs of the Pivdennyi Sea Port (State Enterprise "Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority"), the former Acting Director of the port, and the former Deputy Director for Economics and Finance of the port.

They were acquitted due to the absence of a criminal offense in their actions. According to the prosecution, from April to August 2020, despite the restrictions imposed by the Government on the payment of salaries to officials (no more than UAH 47.2 thousand) for the period of quarantine due to COVID-19, the acting director of the Pivdennyi port ensured that he received unjustified salaries. His actions, committed by prior conspiracy with other persons, allegedly resulted in UAH 1 million 308.7 thousand in losses to the state.

As a result of the trial, these arguments were not confirmed. The court found that these persons did not abuse their position during the calculation, deposit and payment of wages for the period from April to August 2020, as they acted on the basis of job descriptions, and their activities were aimed at protecting the interests of the enterprise.

Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine served a notice of suspicion to the director of the State Enterprise Pivdennyi Commercial Sea Port and two of his deputies of misappropriation of state property through abuse of office.
