On November 1 in Mykolaiv, about 120 people took part in a rally to honor Ukrainian soldiers who are being held captive or are considered missing in action. The defenders’ family members and friends came with posters and flags to honor their loved ones.

Among the participants was Alla, who is waiting for news about her brother Serhiy. According to her, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2023 and later served in the 425th Brigade.
On September 7, 2026, Serhiy called his family to say he was heading out on a combat mission. After the call, he messaged that he was in the Kramatorsk area. After that, contact with him was lost.
The family called the brigade’s hotline, where they were initially told that there was no information about the soldier. It wasn’t until September 21—his sister’s birthday—that his family was informed that Serhiy was missing in action. According to Alla, they later learned that he had stopped communicating on the night of September 16–17.

Another participant in the rally—Alina—has been waiting for over seven months for the return of her husband, Ignatiy, a soldier in the 79th Brigade. They last spoke on March 29, 2026. At that time, her husband told her that he was fine and set off on a combat mission in the Pokrovsk direction. It was his first deployment, after which he went missing.
“I believe he’s alive,” Alina said.
No public order violations were reported during the event, according to Alla Tkachenko, an inspector with the National Police’s Preventive Communications Sector.
