Pensions in the Odesa region fell short of the national average

Pensions in the Odesa region fell short of the national average by 281 hryvnia—and people in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions receive even less

According to analysts at the OpenDataBot platform, citing the Pension Fund of Ukraine, the current average pension in Ukraine is 7,273 hryvnia.

As of July 1, 2026, pensioners in three southern regions receive less than the national average:

Among the southern regions, pensions in the Kherson region lag the most behind the national average.

According to the Pension Fund, there were 9.98 million pensioners in Ukraine as of July 1, 2026. The number of pensioners has decreased by 190,500 since the beginning of the year—more than in all of 2025.

Nearly one-third of all pensioners receive a payment higher than the national average: 3.2 million people receive more than 7,000 hryvnias. Of these, half a million receive more than 20,000 hryvnias. At the same time, one in four pensioners receives about 3,500 hryvnias.

Pensioners in seven regions receive payments higher than the national average. The highest are in the capital: 9,901 hryvnias, which is 36% more than the average.

The average pension in Donetsk Oblast is 8,990 hryvnias (24% above the national average), and in Luhansk Oblast, it is 8,752 hryvnias (20% above the national average).

It was also reported that as of January 1, 2026, certainsocial standards in Ukraine have changed. Among them are increases in the minimum wage and the subsistence minimum.

Thus, the subsistence minimum for citizens has been set at 3,328 UAH. According to the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, this figure serves as the basis for determining the amount of mandatory state pension insurance premiums, which are paid upon the initial state registration of passenger vehicles.
