The Ukrainian community in Ireland held a rally outside the General Post Office (GPO) in Dublin to draw attention to the humanitarian situation in the occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region.

This was reported by the Association of Ukrainians in the Republic of Ireland.

The organizers stated that due to the Russian occupation, residents of Oleshky lack adequate access to food, medicine, and humanitarian aid. According to them, the city is also suffering from shelling and attacks by FPV drones, and the roads surrounding it are mined.

The statement notes that people are without electricity, water, gas, and adequate medical care. The rally organizers called the situation in Oleshky a humanitarian catastrophe and cited signs of the deliberate destruction of the Ukrainian population.

During the rally, Ukrainians called on Irish society and the international community to pay attention to the situation in the city. In particular, they urged world leaders to push for the creation of safe humanitarian evacuation corridors.

The organizers also drew a parallel between the tragedy in Oleshky and Ireland’s historical memory of the Great Famine—An Gorta Mór.

Recently, Ukrainian defenders carried out a second large-scale humanitarian mission in occupied Oleshky. They delivered six metric tons of provisions to local residents via the Dnipro River using heavy UAVs.
