The wife of artist Oleksandr Roitburd, Anna Makolkina, died in Odesa on the night of November 2 as a result of illness.

This was announced by the rector of the Kyiv Institute of Contemporary Psychology and Psychotherapy, Borys Khersonskyi.

"It is reported that after a long illness, Anna Makolkina, a longtime friend of Oleksandr Roitburd, died. She continues to live in his paintings. Quite often - without clothes, and sometimes without hands. Now they are together. Where there is no sickness, no sadness, no sighing. But there is still something there. See you, Anya "Maklo," he wrote on Facebook.

Oleksandr Roitburd died on August 8, 2021. At the end of 2017, he won the competition for the position of director of the Odesa Art Museum. Despite the opposition of the regional council members who did not vote for his candidacy, on March 19, 2018, the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration Maksym Stepanov signed a 5-year contract with him.

On September 4, 2019, the Odesa Regional Council dismissed Oleksandr Roitburd from the position of museum director.

In October 2019, Oleksandr Roitburd filed a lawsuit with the Prymorskyi District Court of Odesa against the Odesa City Council, the Odesa Regional State Administration, the Department of Culture, Nationalities, Religions and Protection of Cultural Heritage of the Odesa Regional State Administration and the Odesa Art Museum, seeking to have the decision of the Odesa Regional Council of September 4, 2019 "On Termination of the Contract and Dismissal of the Head of the Odesa Art Museum" declared illegal and to have it revoked, and to have his contract renewed.
