Police investigators have served a notice of suspicion of misappropriation of public funds through abuse of office to the former head of the Municipal Security Department of the Odesa City Council and his first deputy.

According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Odesa region, investigators believe that the suspects conspired with representatives of two commercial structures and organized the purchase of radios for the needs of the Odesa military district by the enterprises under their control.

The suspects, according to investigators, conducted a tender for a predetermined winner, who supplied 300 radios with additional batteries in the amount of 300 pieces. At the same time, the participants in the scheme illegally included the amount of value added tax in the contract price, while according to the law, transactions for the supply of goods for the needs of military units are exempt from VAT. As a result of these actions, according to investigators, they unjustifiably seized funds of the Department of Municipal Security of Odesa City Council in the amount of UAH 1 million 661.5 thousand.

Investigators from the Main Investigation Department of the Police, with the operational support of the SBU Office in Odesa region, conducted searches in Odesa, Odesa and Kyiv regions - at the suspects' places of residence and work - and seized financial documents, contracts, draft records and electronic media that should confirm the illegality of the officials' actions.
